A Rose for Emily is one of Faulkner' s short stories. Discuss the character of Emily Grierson and how this character is depicted.
Emily Grierson is a symbol of old values; standing for tradition, duty and past glory. She is an eccentric spinster who refuses to accept the passage of time, or the inevitable change and loss that accompanies it. As a descendant of the Southern aristocracy, Emily is typical of those in Faulkner’s Yoknapatawpha stories who are the symbols of the Old South but the prisoner of the past.
