According to a recent scientific study, people who exercise vigorously are just as likely to die as those who don’t exercise at all. Danish scientists studied more than 1,000 joggers and non-joggers for 12 years. Mortality rates in the sample group showed that those who jogged two to three times a week at a moderate pace for no more than two and a half hours had the lowest mortality rates. The best jogging speed is about 5 miles per hour. The study showed that people who jogged more than three times a week or at a speed of more than seven miles per hour had the same death rate as non-joggers. Scientists believe this is because strenuous exercise causes structural changes in the heart and arteries. Over time, this can lead to serious injuries.
