Making Progress by Making Mistakes
Everyone makes mistakes. After making mistakes, we risk being criticized or possibly receiving severe punishment. We are all terrified of making mistakes as a result. In actuality, though, it is via our mistakes that we actually achieve enormous accomplishment. I firmly believe that making errors is the best way to learn. No matter how many errors you commit or how slowly you advance, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn’t trying.
Starting in childhood, society indoctrinates us to think that failing is a bad experience that we should try to avoid and that failure is a sinking ship without lifeboats, life vests, or any chance of survival. Quite frankly, this couldn’t be more wrong. One of the main motivations behind our improvement, innovation, and foresight of novel concepts, technologies, and solutions is failure. Winston Churchill once summed it up well, when he said, “Success is the ability to move from one failure to another without losing enthusiasm.” We make mistakes because we are not all born knowing everything. That is to say, there is no need to constantly feel sorry for your faults. Additionally, making mistakes will often help people learn from them and improve their performance moving forward. The outstanding famous scientist Dr. Einstein had made numerous immortal masterpieces through thousands of failures, without which we would not enjoy the high quality of life. So what matters is not the fact that you have made mistakes, but that you can make much progress from them.
Mistakes are the stepping stones to improvement. We should seize the opportunity to take past failures and turn them into own experiences. Then, the success and self-achievement would not only exceed expectations but thrive in the future.
