According to the information of the Local Statistical Bureau, the first quarter economic growth in Liaoning province fell below zero due to the serious decline of China’s energy and heavy industry. Liaoning province, which Located in struggling Northeast China Region, became the first province appearing negative growth in 7 years.
China’s national economic growth in first quarter reached 6.7%. But it hided the huge difference between those provinces depending on heavy industry, mining or oil and provinces in South China and East China whose economy was much more diverse.
At present, there are still two provinces that haven’t announced the GDP data in first quarter, one of which is Liaoning province, expecting it has a poor performance. The low price of Coal and oil caused heavily damage to Northeast China. As the biggest economic entity among Three Eastern Provinces, Liaoning was proud of its manufacturing industry and high technological city, Dalian. However, Liaoning was also the home base of numerous large steel plants which got into big trouble.
