Lincoln's Early Years
Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a
wooden (
wood) house in Kentucky. In 1816, Lincoln's family 1
(
move) to southern Indiana where he went to local schools. Lincoln did not have much formal 2
(
educate) due to his poor family background. He had to work 3
(
constant) to support his family. In 1830, Lincoln got a job 4
(
work) on a boat in Southern lllinois. Later Lincoln became 5
(
involve) in local politics. He was a 6
(
support) of the Whig Party (辉格党). Like some other Whig 7
(
member) in the country. Lincoln was strongly againsta 8
(
slave). In 1834, he won the 9
(
elect) to the state legislature (州立法委员会). Lincoln taught himself law. After 10
(
pass) the bar exam (律师资格考试) in 1836, he became a lawyer.
