【听力原文】
The Associated Press reports that 80% of middle-sized and large US companies offered telemedicine services to their workers in 2018, but only 8% of their employees used telemedicine. And this seems to support what many healthcare experts say, people are often not willing to change their way of thinking about healthcare. Compared with seeing a real doctor in person, some people may think the quality of telemedicine is not as good. Parents, for example, may feel that they are not giving their child the best care if they use a virtual doctor appointment.
Older adults may also not want to see a doctor online, experts say. But one reason may be that older people don’t have trust in telemedicine services. They do not buy anything online and let alone do something as personal as seeing a doctor. It is important for them to look their doctor in the eye and shake hands.
However, for some people such as young people and busy students, the telemedicine might be a good choice. It can cut down on the time away from work and cut down on the cost of doctor visits.
