Rachel Carson was a biologist whose words shook the world. She wrote several popular books about the creatures living in and around the sea. But she is best known for one book, Silent Spring. Carson knew how chemical poisons damaged or destroyed organisms 51 addition to the insects or plants they were meant for. In a television interview made before her death in 1965, Rachel Carson said. “ We still talk in terms of conquest. Man’s attitude towards nature... is important... because we now have the power to alter and destroy universe. ”
