1. radius [ˈreɪdiəs] n.(radii/ radiuses)

n. 半径;半径(范围),周围

辨:raise, lift和hoist

raise意为“举起,抬起”,常指用体力将某事物抬高或举高,也指抬起眼睛、头或脸以向上看。例:He suddenly raised his eyes and stared at her.(他突然抬眼盯视着她)

lift意为“举起,抬起”,语气比raise强,指用体力或机械将人或事物举起,也指抬起某一身体部位。例:The stone is too heavy for me to lift.(这块石头太重了,我搬不起来)

hoist意为“吊起,升起”,常指用绳索、起重机等把某物升起。例:The flagmen hoisted the flags in the morning.(旗手们早晨升起了旗帜)

例句:The city raised a memorial to those killed in the war.

这座城市为战争中牺牲的人树立了一座纪念碑。

Shortly after joining the company, Kelly got a raise.

入职不久凯利就获得了加薪。

10. rake [reɪk] v.(rakes, raking, raked, raked)/n.(rakes)

v. 耙平,梳理;扫视,扫过,扫射;搜索;刮,搔,抓

rake over sth. 重提往日某事
