当我站在越南的一个城市的马路边时我明白的这个道理。我的目的地，一家餐馆，我的丈夫汤姆正站在对面等我。我饿了，闻到了食物的香味。但是餐厅却似乎好像有好几英里远。街上挤满了自行车，摩托车，汽车，卡车和公共汽车。没有划分为两车道的交通道，黄色的车道标志显然只是表明你走在铺平的道路上。人们走走停停，转身并且越过中心线。

交通在同一车道两边流过，更多的交通是从人行道上到街上。即使当信号灯变红，交通不断流动而司机完全不顾信号灯，从前后左右，各个角度冲到我面前。
